Forests like this don't come back the way they were unless we intervene. To restore and protect this land — a contribution that will outlast ourselves and our daughter — it wouldn't be possible without Mast.

OUR APPROACH
approach-04

Banking Seed

We gather native seed with rural communities to replant where severe wildfires destroy forests' ability to recover. We own the largest private native tree seed bank in the US and are committed to preserving the biological legacy of western forests.

approach-02

Burying Carbon

We turn unusable wood from wildfire-ravaged forests into a durable carbon sink through strategic biomass burial, catalyzing investment in restorative reforestation. This accelerates forest recovery, removes carbon, and reduces wildfire risk.

approach-03

Restoring Forests

We work with private landowners to restore climate-adaptive, biodiverse forests on their land. Each tree we plant is collected from native seed and grown in our nurseries. We closely monitor each seedlings' health to ensure long-term survival and success.

Every Purchase Plants a Seed

When you choose Mast, you're not just buying carbon credits — you’re supporting reforestation from seed to sapling, and restoring native ecosystems across the western U.S.

  • Your purchase funds our first-of-a-kind restorative carbon removal projects. High severity wildfire leaves thousands of acres of dead, standing trees. These are fuel for the next fire. Mast buries these trees to store the carbon underground and fund biodiverse, native forest restoration. Your purchase provides much needed capital for restoration of critical native habitat.

    Learn more

  • We are working with Puro.earth to verify our biomass burial projects, and our reforestation projects are registered with the Climate Action Reserve.

  • In accordance with our Terms & Conditions, Mast retires carbon credits in aggregate on behalf of buyers within 24 months of your purchase.

  • Once we have fulfilled your order and sent you an email confirming this, you may wish to make a carbon credit or offset claim at your discretion. Please do so in accordance with best practices and local regulations, if applicable.

  • We need all hands on deck to scale reforestation efforts in the United States and around the world. If you are interested in doing more, we would appreciate you sharing our website with your friends and family, and referring your employer to our Commercial Partnerships team to discuss how we can support your employer’s sustainability strategy.
